Symphonicity Gifts Hampton Roads with a Free Messiah Sing-Along Concert

Symphonicity will present its 36th annual offering of the Handel’s Messiah Sing-Along to the Hampton Roads community on Saturday, December 23rd, at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts. The concert will begin at 8 PM. This year the concert will be recorded for a special project to be announced from the stage.

Symphonicity’s Messiah Sing-Along is a free concert in which the audience performs the choral sections of the Christmas portion of Messiah by Handel and four professional soloists sing the solo arias and recitatives. Symphonicity’s Music Director and Conductor, Daniel W. Boothe, will conduct the orchestra while Mark C. Hudgins, Executive Director of Virginia Musical Theatre, will lead the audience of singers. Singers with scores will be seated on the first floor. Observers may sit in the Mezzanine or Balcony sections.

This year’s featured soloists are Mrs. Cailin Crane (soprano), Ms. Katherine Lakoski (mezzo-soprano), Dr. Randall Criswell Ball (tenor), Mr. Logan Cole Kenison (bass).

Prior to the concert, Messiah scores and special Symphonicity cups (that are allowed for use in the theatre) will be sold for $10 each. The concert is free but donations will be accepted.

The Sandler Center doors will open at 7 PM in anticipation of the usual large crowds. Once the theatre is at capacity, the Miller Studio will house the overflow audience.
