Symphonicity

Symphonicity is the symphony orchestra of Virginia Beach, Virginia, presenting accessible, high-quality and innovative orchestral experiences for the love of music and community.

About Symphonicity

Symphonicity is a nonprofit community orchestra serving Virginia Beach and the greater Hampton Roads region. Founded in 1981 as the Virginia Beach Symphony Orchestra, the organization adopted the name Symphonicity to reflect the connection between symphony and community.

More than 200 area musicians participate in Symphonicity’s orchestra, chorus and related ensembles. Collectively, they contribute thousands of volunteer hours annually to make live orchestral music accessible to the community.

Symphonicity presents Masterworks concerts, pops programs, a children’s concert, an annual community Handel’s Messiah Sing-Along, outdoor performances and collaborative productions with other regional arts organizations.

Symphonicity creates high-quality, innovative and dynamic symphonic experiences for the love of music and community.

Its performances may incorporate multimedia, theatrical elements, special effects, educational commentary and collaborations with guest artists and community partners. Symphonicity seeks to make orchestral music welcoming, engaging and financially accessible.

2026–27 Season

The 2026–27 season is titled The Long Road: Music in Search of Peace. Through orchestral masterworks, contemporary music, family programming and community traditions, the season explores conflict, conviction, lament, resilience and humanity’s continuing search for peace.
